Our Buying Process
How we work and why it matters
Every dog we place becomes part of someone’s daily life. These are the people who trusted that process — and what happened after.
Before Anything Else
The right match starts with the right conversation.
Most people come to us with a general idea of what they want. A dog that protects. A dog that’s good with the family. A dog that travels well. What they don’t always know yet is which dog, which profile, which level of training, and what that actually looks like in daily life.
That’s what this process is for. Not to sell you a dog quickly, but to make sure the dog you end up with is the right one for your specific situation, long after the excitement of getting a new dog has settled into routine.
How we work
Our Buying Process
Getting the right protection dog takes more than browsing available dogs. It takes a process built around who you are, how you live, and what you actually need.
Step 1
We Listen
We start by understanding your needs, family dynamics, lifestyle, and protection goals. No checklist — just a real conversation about what matters to you.
Step 2
We Select
Based on your profile and goals, we identify the dogs that genuinely fit — from what's available now or coming soon in our program.
Step 3
We Match
We walk you through temperament, training level, and real expectations. You'll know exactly what you're getting and why. No pressure. No overselling.
Step 4
We Prepare
Once the right dog is chosen, we handle logistics, integration planning, and delivery — so everything is ready for a smooth transition from day one.
Step 5
We Support
Our commitment doesn't end at delivery. We stay available through the adaptation period to make sure the experience at home is everything it should be.
Step 1 — We Listen
We hear you, all of it.
WE UNDERSTAND YOUR NEEDS AND EXPECTATIONS
Our first step is understanding your lifestyle, your environment, your security priorities, and your expectations. This is not a form you fill out. It is a real conversation where we ask the questions most people don’t think to ask themselves: Who lives in the home? Where do you spend your time? What does a typical day look like? What are you actually worried about?
Once we have a clear picture of who you are and what you need, we begin identifying dogs that could genuinely fit your profile. We share photos, videos, and information on candidates that match your criteria, and we help you start forming a sense of what the right dog might look like for you.
Nothing is rushed at this stage. The better we understand you, the better the outcome.
Step 2 — We Select
We find the dogs that actually fit.
WE IDENTIFY THE MOST SUITABLE OPTIONS
Based on what we learned in step one, we identify the best available options from our current program. This could be a dog ready for placement now, a younger dog still in training, or a reservation from an upcoming litter, depending on your timeline, preferences, and what we have in development.
We don’t show you everything we have and let you pick based on how a dog looks in a photo. We present the options that make sense for your specific situation, and we explain exactly why each one is being recommended. Our experience allows us to recognize matches that clients don’t always see themselves, and that alignment between person and dog is what makes the difference long term.
Step 3 — We Match
We show you our pick, and we explain it.
We show our pick and make a deal
Once we have identified the right candidate, we walk you through everything: temperament, training level, drive, sociability, and what life with this specific dog will actually look like. You’ll know what the dog does well, where it is in its development, and what to expect during the transition into your home.
This is also where we discuss terms. A 50% non-refundable deposit holds your selected dog or reserves your place in line for a younger litter. This deposit is fully transferable — if for any reason it is determined that the chosen dog is not the right fit for your situation, those funds move to another candidate who is. We don’t want you to end up with the wrong dog any more than you do.
No pressure. No overselling. Just clarity on what you’re getting and why.
Step 4 — You Have a Diamond
Your dog is ready. So are you.
We prepare each dog for transition
Once the dog is prepared for delivery, we don’t just hand it over and wish you luck. We come to you. Our delivery process includes in-person training at your home, where we introduce the dog to its new environment, walk you through its cues and commands, and make sure you feel confident handling it from day one.
Even a dog with years of preparation performs best when the handover is done properly. This is the moment where everything we built in training transfers to real life, and we take it seriously.
Step 5 — We Support
We stay with you through the adjustment.
We stay with you beyond delivery
The first weeks after a protection dog arrives in a new home are the most important ones. The dog is learning its environment, its handler, its routine, and its place in the household. You are learning how to read the dog, how to handle it confidently, and how to build the relationship that makes everything work long term.
We stay available through all of it. If something feels off, if you have questions, if a situation comes up that you’re not sure how to handle, you reach out and we respond. This is not a support line that routes you through a system. It’s direct access to the people who know your dog and know your situation.
Our commitment doesn’t end when the dog walks through your door. That’s when the real work between you and your dog begins, and we want to make sure it goes the way it should.
Once You Have Your Dog
The process doesn't end at delivery.
For most companies, delivery is the end of the relationship. For us, it's the beginning of a different phase of it. Once your dog is home, three things remain in place:
Delivery Training
We come to your location to begin the household integration. This covers how the dog moves through the home, how it interacts with family members, and how you handle it in the situations you'll actually encounter day to day.
Skill Maintenance
A protection dog's capabilities need to be maintained over time. We provide guidance on how to keep your dog sharp, responsive, and performing at the level it was trained to. A dog that doesn't practice doesn't stay ready.
Ongoing Support
Our team remains available for questions, follow-ups, and any situation that comes up after placement. Whether it's a behavioral question, a change in your circumstances, or simply wanting to check in, we're here. You're not on your own once the dog is delivered.
